The Government has regulated the matter of the validity of documents that expired during the Martial Law period. The respective Decree by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1202 0f 21.20.2022 came into force on 26.10.2022.

What does it mean?

Decree No. 1202 specifies the following:

1. Foreign citizens of persons without citizenship, except for the citizens of the RF, must apply for the replacement of their temporary or permanent residence permits according to the legally established procedure within 30 calendar days after termination or cancellation of the Martial Law.

2. If a passport of the citizen of Ukraine issued as an ID card expires within 30 days before 24.02.2022 or after 24.02.2022; and if a passport holder who reached the age of 25 or 45 years failed to have the appropriate photo inserted 30 days before 24.02.2022 or after 24.02.2022, such documents remain valid to verify holder’s identity and citizenship of Ukraine. They are subject to the replacement or adding a new photo corresponding to the holder’s age within 30 calendar days after termination or cancellation of the Martial Law.

3. If a temporary or permanent residence permit, except for those issued to the citizens of the Russian Federation, has expired and should be replaced according to laws, it remains valid to confirm legal grounds for its holder’s temporary stay in or entering into Ukraine during the period of the Martial Law and within 30 calendar days after termination or cancellation thereof.
