The Government proposes alterations to military duty and service. The Parliament registered the respective Draft law No.8169 on 01.11.2022.

What does it mean?

The Cabinet of Ministers proposes to cut the grounds for the dismissal from military service and implement a trial period at the admission to the contracted service.

The Draft law offers to extend the Law of Ukraine «On Military Duty and Military Service» (the Law) with Article 24-1 «A trial period for the admission to the contract military service». It settles a trial period that may be applied to citizens of Ukraine admitted to the contract military service to verify their fitness for the position.

Dismissal from the military service

Draft law No. 8169 also offers cancellation of the provision on the dismissal of the military servants admitted to the army upon call during the mobilization, for a specific period of martial law and martial status, and in connection with the disciplinary deprivation from the military rank.

What does it mean?

The authors propose establishing terms for contract military service, from 1 to 10 years.
