Valuable information for Ukrainians who moved for the permanent stay to Türkiye

Please be aware that an Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye about the mutual recognition and exchange of national driver’s licenses became effective on 10.01.2023.

What does it mean?

From now on, our people in Türkiye can change a Ukrainian driver’s license into a Turkish one without passing theoretical and practical tests.

The same is true for the citizens of the Republic of Türkiye who temporarily or permanently live in Ukraine and have a Turkish driver’s license: they can have it replaced without passing any tests at a service centre of the Ministry of Domestic Affairs of Ukraine.

According to article 7 of the Agreement, after the exchange, a competent authority of the Agreement’s Party shall withdraw the previous driver’s license and use diplomatic channels to return it to a central authorized body of the second Agreement’s Party (the Government of Ukraine/the Government of Türkiye).

The Agreement covers the licenses for driving vehicles of all categories.
